Mary Beth Maes

Tonight's Horn Pond Summer Concert has been postponed. MaryBeth Maes will now perform on July 5, and the series will now begin next Friday, June 28, featuring Mike Moore & Steve Kelly.

Hi, I'm Phil Gordon and I have been an SCI AmeriCorps member serving at the James L. McKeown Boys and Girls Club of Woburn since February. I will be sending out the Week in Woburn newsletter for he next couple of months as I complete my AmeriCorps service requirements. As a born & bred Woburnite, it's been exciting or me to be able to give back to my community through the Social Capital Inc platform and I'm happy to now be able to work more directly with the SCI team. I'm also looking forward to meeting some of you, our readers and community supporters, in the near future!

Relay for Life Logo

At Relay For Life events, no one faces cancer alone. People come together every year at more than 2,500 Relay events around the country to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers.

Each Relay has special events and activities (many throughout the year) just for survivors and their caregivers, so they can connect with others and know there is a strong support system available to them.

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council is working on a Greater Boston regional plan. To encourage Woburn residents to share their voice in this process, we are sharing this update from them:

Haitian Creole Cooking

The next #WoburnUnites Cultural Connections Dinner is coming up on Tuesday, May 7, 6:30-8:30 PM, featuring delicious Haitian food. The goal of the event is to build ties between Woburn's longtime residents and the newer immigrant community using food and conversation as a basis for people to learn about the different cultures represented throughout the community.

Woburn resident Nathalie Lecorps will be preparing the meal for the event. Nathalie was the chef for the inaugural "Supper Club" whereby residents cook a meal together to learn about another culture. The food was a big hit so we invited to cook for this event!

Nathalie was born and raised in Miami, Florida and recently moved to Massachusetts in August. She grew up helping her parents in their Haitian restaurant that they owned for 15+ years. Nathalie threw her passion in that restaurant helping the cooks prepare the food she loved for the community she loved. She has two sons who are enjoying the New England weather since moving.

Nathalie offers catering services under her brand "Gourmet Kreyol".
